We are seeing the horror of the heinous twist of truth the devil weaves into the hearts of people who are destitute of the love of the Lord. What evil the enemy puts into the heart of one person who takes the lives of others who don’t know His love. Our nation, and yes all of mankind, needs to be washed in and filled with His overwhelming love. The works of the devil in the minds of young children is extreme as they are surrounded by and taught the ideology of others that is not founded on or filtered by His Word . We need wisdom and His fire to purge the evil.  But for some reason that is hard and it is easier to  turn a blind eye to the evil and in some arenas be accepting of those who flaunt their so called preferred life style. “Every man doing what is right in their own eyes”.

A very wise mentor of mine gave me a simple bit of advice when as a young Christian I wrestled with an attitude of dislike and abhorrence towards the vices of others. (Maybe you feel this same emotion about what is going on in our nation and world) Abhorrence seems a strong word for me to use but please consider what it means noun a feeling of repulsion; disgusted loathing. “the thought of marrying him filled her with abhorrence”
synonyms: hatred, loathing, detestation, execration, revulsion, abomination, disgust, repugnance, horror, odium, aversion
“the sight of drug dealers on his street fills him with abhorrence”

The advice was hate the sin, love the sinner.
That was some of the best advice I ever got and I have often reminded myself was to change my attitude and prayer focus about many of the situations I faced.

Father, we need such a strong display in the reality of Your presence and power. Not in judgment fire but yes judge sin but my Lord with the fire of Your PURE love.

There is a light that must shine in this increasingly dark world. A light that shines in the darkest corners and leads the captive free.
Scripture, Matt. 5:14, tells us we are the light of the world but our minds can’t comprehend that and quite honestly I have sometimes thought that if I embraced that thought I was being holier than thou.

But consider with me what the Apostle Paul said. “It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me. John 1:4 In Him was life and the life (His life) is the light of men.

“Life came into being because of him, for his life is light for all humanity. And this Living Expression is the Light that bursts through gloom— the Light that darkness could not diminish!”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Is He alive in me today?  Am I a carrier and distributor of His light!   Consider this with me: Gen. 2:7 tells us that God breathed into the nostrils of man the breath of life; and man became a living being.
John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

We are born again of, by and with the power of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ which was sacrificed because Father God sent His only begotten Son to bear our sins on the cross. That gift to us was the greatest sacrifice of the love of God and when we accept that love we are filled with the light. He breathes the breath of His life, (the life) into us and we carry that light within us. We are His light to the world. His light radiates love. His love is the love that releases bondages. We reveal that very love in our lives day by day.  The way to have a brighter light is to spend more time in His presence. Please join me in ramping up the wattage in your light.

We can make a difference. Our words and actions can be filled with light, life and love as we come closer to Him. In Him is life!

We do not want to walk in darkness but we are the light shining in the darkness leading others to His light and eternal life.

Look up! God is right there with you —by nils olson

Man, in his search for God, has always looked up. Yes, we may bow our heads, but we are lifting up our hearts anxiously longing for His aid, for His solution to our problem(s). We are instructed in the well-known Lord’s Prayer to begin by looking up and by saying, “Our Father which art in Heaven . . . ” David began each of his days this way: “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” —Psalm 5:3.

coffeeWe have been made in the likeness and image of Almighty God, The Creator of all things. His greatest creation of all was Adam and Eve. Each of us is either an Adam, or an Eve, male or female. Since God is One in three persons, The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost, we, too are a three-in-one created being. We have a body, soul and a spirit. In other words we are a special make of creature: we have a body that carries a soul (emotions) and a spirit. We cannot separate either of these three from one another. Just like God, neither of the Godhead can be separated from the other.

We humans can be likened to a triangle with our body and soul (emotions) as the base, and our spirit pointing (looking) upward. Creator God can also be likened to a triangle, but pointing downward to always aid and assist those who call on Him. Look at the following diagram to see the above explanation.

trianglesNow, we shared all of that to bring out a fascinating insight about winter. Yes, winter. “What in the world . . . how can this relate to winter?” you may ask. Well, first let’s lay the above triangles on top of each other and see what they look like.

starWhat is generally referred to as The Star or Shield of David may have its religious meanings, but I see something more wonderful than something “religious.” I see the desire of Creator God to be intimately connected to His ultimate creation — Adam & Eve. They fell in sin. That condition was passed on to all of us. “For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God.”

The MAN triangle signifies sinful man looking up and calling on God for help to be set free from the trap sin that was laid to capture us and eventually completely separate us from God for eternity.

The GOD triangle seen in John’s Gospel shows us that — (parenthetical emphasis is mine).

“For God (the Father) so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, (cf. James 1:17 where it says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights . . .”) that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God (the Father) sent not his Son (from above) into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him (the Son) might be saved.” —John 3:16-17

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send (from above, from the Father’s abode in Heaven) — cf. Acts 2:2 where it says, “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven [above] as of a rushing mighty    wind . . .”) in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” —John 14:26

Very clearly we see the Godhead all involved in humbling themselves downward to man in order to bring them up a notch into relationship with their Creator God.

The MAN triangle in scripture shows some pretty interesting things as well —

In the Garden of Eden Adam & Eve sinned, disobeyed their Creator, thinking only of themselves, bringing into their DNA the sinful nature that has been passed on to each one of us today. We need to look at Genesis 3:6. “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food (the body), and that it was pleasant to the eyes (the soul), and a tree to be desired to make one wise (the spirit), she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”

Adam & Eve died spiritually first. Their spirits were “dead in sin”, separated from God. They were cast out of the Garden of Eden. Then at about age 900 or so, they both died physically. And so, their DNA has been passed on to us, and each of us has been born with the same sin nature. The only way our dead spirits an be raised to life (born again) is to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s what John 3:16 is all about. Jesus said, “Marvel not that I said unto you, ‘Ye (your spirit) must be born again.’ ” It’s the dead spirit of man that cries out unto God to be born again for a fresh start, a new beginning with God as Master, and not we ourselves.

The two triangles need each other to be a balanced and complete work of art. That’s one reason God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.”

Did you know that of the myriad of snowflakes that fall in a winter storm that not one is the same. They are all original creations. It almost boggles one’s mind to think that not one is the same. There is yet an untapped mystery in snow. So said God to Job of old — “Hast thou entered into the treasuries of the snow?” —Job 38:22

Now take a look at a snowflake, and perhaps you will see how the above triangles of God and Man can be related to snow. This photograph of an actual snowflake taken from an online  photo gallery called Sky Crystals.

snowflakeTake a close look. Do you see the GOD and MAN triangles mentioned above? The mystery and treasure of God’s wanting to reach down and help every living person here on the earth is seen in every snowflake that falls during a cold, cold winter storm. Many times  throughout life’s journey we find ourselves in these kind of storms. BUT the message is in each snowflake: GOD comes down to help MAN when he looks up. When God created Adam on the 6th day and Adam’s shape was complete, Adam’s eyes were looking up into the face of God, then God stooped down and blew the breath (spirit, ruwach) of life into his nostrils — the first intermingling between God and Man.

King David was in a big, big, and I really mean BIG bind one day. He had been caught after having done something really bad — adultery and murder. Doesn’t seem like it could get any worse, but he looked up and called on God, “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy mercies blot out my transgressions (sins) . . . Purge me with hyssop (an aromatic herb of the mint family), and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than SNOW.” —Psalm 51:1, 7. I think we can safely say that we have all been in some pretty big binds, and even been caught after having done something pretty bad. God will do the same for us, if we simply LOOK UP, talk to God and get our hearts (spirits) right. God has already come down for us. He has already done His part. That happened when Jesus took our place on the cross, died, was buried, rose from the dead, and showed Himself alive. Yes, He has already done His part.

Will you look at this! Parenthetical emphasis are mine. God says to you, “Come (on) now, (quit bucking me) and let us reason  (argue this out) together, (sit down and talk) saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet (blood-red), they shall be as WHITE AS SNOW; though they be red like crimson, they shall be (white) as wool.” —Isaiah 1:18

Many of us have experienced being up a creek without a paddle and looked up, cried out, and asked the LORD for help. Remember, we were designed by God Himself  to LOOK UP, CRY OUT and talk to Him. He made us that way. “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” —Psalm 121:1-2

If you’re up one of life’s creeks without a paddle, it’s “snow” joke, God is there!

File Jan 17, 8 07 38 PMIron is a strong, magnetic, silvery gray, naturally occurring element.  It seems unusual to use it as an analogy when speaking of something occurring between friends.  We like to think of ourselves as living flesh, soft hearted and flexible.  But we sometimes take on peculiar attitudes, as a result of our experiences, especially hardships.  We become set through the things we experience.  Left on our own, sometimes reeling from life’s blows we could become hard, cold and potentially dangerous to others.  But God has plans!  He hasn’t completed the beautification in us or others through us.  We want painless, quick, convenience, God is after long lasting beauty of character.

Silver in the Bible indicates redemption – a buying back of lost value.  Innocence, life style, health, money, all can seemingly be lost or devalued through difficulties.  Loss is loss. However a higher value is being set before us.

We become attracted to (magnetic) those who’ve experienced similar situations. Face to face I see myself mirrored in another’s situation. Honesty reveals truths about me and another as I allow them to speak into me.  Perhaps they have answers I don’t have and I might have an insight for them.  God loves this communication – see Malachi 4:16 – speaking often to others.  Such communication is a rare privilege seldom broadcast beyond the two hearts communion.  If we will step into true companionship we can put our circumstances into proper perspective and see the reflection of our own heart.  You don’t have to say much as shown by Jonathan and David who found true friends in one another.  1 Samuel 18:1-4.

As kindred spirits, as Anne of Green Gables described friendship, we experience the wonderful finishing touches God has designed for each other.  Iron sharpening iron.

Making sense

Hello again readers. Here’s a post from guest-writer Nils Olson, BFI missionary in Japan. He and his wife, Andrea, have been serving on the island of Kyushu since January 1978. In case you do not have your Bible handy, the KJV scriptures are included in the article for quick reference as you read.

The five senses are from God. They are and were His. He gave them to us when He created us in His image, after His likeness. Why? To show His glory in the earth!

Isaiah 42:1-8 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. I am the Lord:that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Isaiah 43:21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Psalm 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Exodus 16:31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey.

John 2:9-10 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life (נֶפֶשׁ neh’·fesh: soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, passion) of the flesh (בָּשָׂר bä·sär’: the body of humans and animals) is in the blood.

The soul contains the five senses. The soul is our emotional being where reside our senses of smell, hearing, tasting, feeling-touch and hearing.

Exodus 29:18 And thou shalt burn the whole ram upon the altar: it is a burnt offering unto the Lord: it is a sweet savour (scent, fragrance, aroma, odour), an offering made by fire unto the Lord.

God likes the smell of barbecues and a grilling steak. Incense, sweet smell, nostrils.

Genesis 1:26; 2:7 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

God used clay! Playing in the dirt! He liked the feel. Could playing in the dirt by gardening, pulling weeds or even throwing something on a potter’s wheel bring an individual closer to God in some kind of way? Perhaps we could call it “returning to one’s roots.”

The five senses connect us to God!

Ears to Hear, Eyes to See

Hi everyone,

Some food for thought. He that hath an ear to hear!

We look all around us and see darkness. We talk about all of the horrific things we see and hear in the news and it is very easy to become discouraged and only see the negative effects of all that is going on. But God! Be encouraged child of God. Regardless of what it looks like to still in charge, He has a plan, We have a purpose, He knows all.

Yes, if we look at things with our natural eyes and accept everything we see as settled fact we will be overwhelmed but I want you to be encouraged to press forward in Him today and pray, pray, pray!
Our Bible Teachers used to say that the Bible was as up to date as today’s News Paper. And you know what? Although that was said over 50 years ago, the truth of it still rings in my heart today. The Word of God gives a glimpse into what is happening now and will happen in the future in the world around us if only we “have eyes to see” and “ears to hear”.
Don’t get caught up in the day to day downer information that comes your way or the cares of life that you are experiencing. Know that He is in charge and His light shines in the darkness so that you can see where you are going. But it is not just for you it is so that your light can be a beacon that beckons others to be drawn to the weighty light of His presence in you.
Please be encouraged to spend time in prayer and fasting and reading His Word and being built up in your most Holy faith.

 Isa 60:2,3

2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

The word used for (the)darkness in Strong’s is :   from 2821; the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively, misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness:–dark(-ness), night, obscurity.

The word used for (gross} darkness is: probably from 6201; gloom (as of a lowering sky):–(gross, thick) dark (cloud, -ness).

but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.

arise:  a primitive root; properly, to irradiate (or shoot forth beams), i.e. to rise (as the sun); specifically, to appear (as a symptom of leprosy):–arise, rise (up), as soon as it is up.

His glory:  rarely kabod {kaw-bode’}; from 3513; properly, weight, but only figuratively in a good sense, splendor or copiousness:–glorious(-ly), glory, honour(-able).

Now let’s read verse 3.
3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
thy light: from 215; illumination or (concrete) luminary (in every sense, including lightning, happiness, etc.):–bright, clear, + day, light (-ning), morning, sun.

brightness: from 5050; brilliancy (literally or figuratively):–bright(-ness), light, (clear) shining. a primitive root; to glitter; causatively, to illuminate:–(en-)lighten, (cause to) shine.
rising: from 2224; a rising of light:—rising.

Yes, we see the darkness. Some may feel the darkness. But know that just as the Gentiles will come to our light we must come to His light. We must ask Him fill us with His Light, Hope, Joy, Strength and flow through us to beckon others to partake of the Light that lives within.

Please read and re-read this portion of the Word and with the original meanings of the words presented to us give some thought to what the Lord may be saying to you! Be encouraged, be blessed and know there are wonderful yet to be accomplished in and through His Church.
