JOB. 28:11 But where shall wisdom be found?

Let’s continue a little while with our study on WISDOM.

We are challenged to “get” WISDOM.

I am encouraged by the thought that WISDOM is:

Available to every child of God.  You do not need a college education that qualifies you for a special bunch of letters behind your name.   You do not need a fancy title to set you apart from the rest of the people.

I trust that our hearts will be enlarged and encouraged as we dig into this study and realize that the Lord has set His people apart and desires to fill them with His WISDOM.

But, you must seek His WISDOM and allow Him to fill you with it.

There are many scriptures that help us understand this teaching and I won’t put all of them here for you, but I will share a few with you. I can not over emphasis the encouragement to you that you begin to study this on your own.  Bring back some of the wonderful thoughts that the Lord shows you and share them in the comments with the rest of us so that we can have some interaction on this subject.

Use the internet to help you in your study.  Here is a good place for you to start:

As I listen to the news and try to gain an understanding about what is going on in the world I am more and more convinced that a good portion of the body of Christ is very satisfied with their own lives, ministries, entertainments, enjoying their own activities and are very much in a comatose state.

What is that you ask?

adjective    in a state of deep unconsciousness for a prolonged or indefinite period, esp. as a result of severe injury or illness: she had been comatose for seven months | lying in a comatose state.

(Please take note of this meaning) (of a person or thing) extremely exhausted, lethargic, or sleepy:  the economy remains almost comatose

The scripture talks about us this way:

Prov. 6:10,11

vs. 10       Yet, a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep.

folding of the hands gives the idea of resting, relaxing and lying down.  Being at ease.

vs. 11      So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

The word for armed give the idea of a shield or buckler.

But this word seems to implies a smaller size

and extent than an armed man used of a thief.

(The meaning implied is that of a shield that is diminished

in size not able to protect all areas of our body.)

Consider the admonition to put on the whole armor of God)

This scripture shows someone who is suffering from a lack and seems unaware of it.  He is my shield and my buckler. Ps. 7:11

I feel it is so important for us to be aroused and awakened as Watchmen on the Walls.   Please never cease to ask the Lord for a great visitation of the Spirit of the Living God.    There world knows plenty of dead Gods but you and I serve the Great and Mighty Living God.

2 Tim. 2:15,16

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

But shun profane and vain babblings:for they will increase unto more ungodliness

Read on in this portion of scripture and you get a good idea of the type of person the Lord wants you and I to be.

Okay, on to some scriptures about WISDOM

You will not become filled with WISDOM by much study, but the Lord wants us to study.

You will not be filled with WISDOM by doing good works, but the Lord wants us to do good works.

So, we must go to the scripture to get a good idea about WISDOM.   We really need to see what Godly WISDOM looks like.  That is the WISDOM we want.  I have only scratched the surface of this study and am sure you will gain more insight as you continue with this study on your own.

There are many meanings to the word WISDOM and I will just whet your appetite with this one from James 3:15….wisdom, broad and full of intelligence; used of the knowledge of very diverse matters.

Now please read the rest of the scriptures here and enlarge your study on this word and help yourself begin to understand the wide scope of what the WISDOM is that the Lord desires us to possess.   From there we will begin to get a greater understanding of how to obtain…get..this WISDOM.

JAMES 3:13:   Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  (NOTE THE MEEKNESS OF WISDOM)

One of the definitions in Strongs that I think speaks volumes is the following one:

Who is a WISE man?  In this portion the word is used to signify someone who is sagacious.

sagacious |   adjective   Having or showing keen mental discernment and good judgment; shrewd: they were sagacious enough to avoid any outright confrontation.  Forming the best plans and using the best means for their execution.

James 3:13 ; and accordingly is a suitable person to settle private quarrels,

1 Co. 6:5  speaking of wisdom

..wise in a philosophic sense, forming the best plans and using the best means for their execution: so of God Ro.16 27, and 1 Tim 1:17;Jude 25l  intelligent contains more wisdom, is more sagaciously thought out.

1 Co. 1:25

It denotes one who can “put things together’  who has insight and comprehension..prudent, denotes primarily one who has quick and correct perceptions, hence ‘discreet’, circumspect’, etc.

Romans 16:19: For your obedience is come abroad unto all men.  I am glad therefore on your behalf; but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

1 Cor. 1:20  Where is the wise?  Where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? Hath not god made foolish the wisdom of this world.

1 Cor. 1 :25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God stronger than men.

1 Cor. 1:26  for ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

There are many other scriptures about WISDOM  and we will probably search out more and discuss them from time to time.

There is the wisdom of the world and there is the WISDOM the the Lord desires His church to possess.  Contrary to what many people may believe.  It is not gained by your intellect.

Romans 1:22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools

I am sure we would learn a lot about WISDOM from Job.  He was a man full of the WISDOM of the Lord.  So, I leave you today with this portion of scripture.

JOB. 28:11    But where shall wisdom be found?

and where is the place of understanding

Job. 28:  20-28

Whence then cometh wisdom?

and where is the place of understanding?

Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living,

and kept close from the fowls of the air.

 Destruction and death say,

We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.

 God understandeth the way thereof,

and He knoweth the place thereof.

For He looketh to the ends of the earth,

and seeth under the whole heaven;

 To make the weight for the winds;

and He weigheth the waters by measure.

When He made a decree for the rain,

and a way for the lightning of the thunder:

 Then did He see it, and declare it;

He prepared it, yea, and searched it out.

 And unto man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;

and to depart from evil is understanding

This version of our blog is a long time in the making.  This has been a very busy summer time for us and “wisdom” was that I try not to push myself and be going in many direction.

We have been blessed in many ways during this season.  One of the most exciting times for our family, however, was the birth of our great grand child.  What a beautiful bundle of love she is.  I for one am so thankful that she has been a peaceful baby who loves to snuggle. I will try to put a little picture montage on the site for all of you to enjoy with us.

Pull up a chair, pour a fresh cup of coffee or tea and let’s continue our study .   If you remember, and if you don’t just go back to the archives and read the last blog post, we are looking at wisdom and trying to discern how that fits into our study of light.  Please understand that all of this is pointing us to the ultimate of “who” the Lord wants us to become.  The radiant Bride of Christ, the “city” set on a hill.  The “light” of the world.

We don’t assume that position because of works, or because we are a good person. As we continue our study together and as you dig out the Word for yourselves I believe the Lord will open His Word to you in a fuller degree than you have ever seen.  That is one of the things I find so intriguing about Bible Study…the Word continues to unfold before us and give us a greater degree of insight into scriptures that were once hidden from us.  As I have said before, He truly does reveal it line upon line and precept upon precept, here a little there a little until we reach the measure of the stature of Christ Jesus.

If you remember we shared scriptures that let us know that there was and is a visible display of His presence in our lives.  Not just His presence because of salvation either, but from an intimate relationship with Him.

Intimacy with the Lord of Glory is a vital part of what He desires for us. I know there are some who shy away from that word in connection with their walk with the Lord, but He is looking for a Bride. Do you honestly think that He wants a Bride who is not intimately in love with Him.  I think not!

So we are encouraged in Prov. 4  to GET wisdom.  Oh brother, you mean I wasn’t born with it?   I need to get it. Search for it, desire it, look for it.  Hmmmm!

Prov. 4:5-7

Get wisdom, get understanding:

forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee:

love her, and she shall keep thee.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom:

and with all thy getting get understanding

Jamieson, Fauccet and Brown gives us this insight into these scriptures

5. Get– as a possession not to be given up.

neither decline– that is, from obeying my word.

6. Not only accept but love wisdom, who will keep thee from evil, and evil from thee.

(Compare Job 28:28). And he said to man, Truly the fear of the Lord is wisdom, and to keep from evil is the way to knowledge

7.  getting– or possession; a desire for wisdom is wise.

8. As you highly esteem her, she will raise you to honor.

    embrace her– with fond affection.

9.ornament– such as the chaplet or wreath of conquerors

For too long a portion of the Lord’s people have gone out of their way to appear to be humble thinking that makes them wise.   Humble is good, but true wisdom is better. Something wonderful happens in our spirits when we are filled with His shows on our countenance.

You can appear to be humble and not have one ounce of wisdom and never make a difference for the Lord.  In fact, many people are proud of their humility which seems strange at first glance.  But, this type of person is really very proud and want to appear to be humble and wise.   Well, that is enough of that.  lol

It is important to note that the scripture admonishes us to “get” wisdom.

Wisdom is to be highly prized and yes, it is to be worn.

I am filled with awe and honestly can’t believe that I have never seen the totality of the value of wisdom like I do now.  It is not just being smart and knowing a lot of things. It is not just the ability to give “wise” counsel to others, but to be personally FILLED with “wisdom.  The scripture pops into my mind..out of your belly will flow rivers of living water…well, what is that living water?  I have always thought of it as the power of the Holy Spirit, and it is. But that isn’t all is it?  Is wisdom also having His living water in us? When a person speaks with wisdom it is like it flows from them. It pours out to others.  Wisdom is not something that stays bottled up inside of a person but there is no way you can hide wisdom and you can’t contain it.

Go back and re-read the scriptures and thoughts and allow the Spirit of the Lord to stamp them in your own heart and mind.   Make those scriptures your own and let them come alive and bring forth fruit within you.

Now, I leave you with these thoughts and ask you to contemplate them. Rehearse these scriptures in your heart and spirit and ask the Lord  for wisdom.

As never before in our lives, we are in desperate need of wisdom as a country, people and Church.

There are wars and rumors of wars and everyone wants to do what is right in their own eyes.  But, we the body of Christ, need to act and re-act with wisdom.

I challenge you to know that the wisdom of God is a visible evidence of His dwelling within us.  There is a transformation within when we are filled with, yes GET, His wisdom.

Can others see wisdom in us….do you see the reflection of wisdom in your brothers and sisters in the Lord?

I remain extremely excited about the revelation the Lord has dropped into my spirit about wisdom and it’s evidence in his body. I am looking forward to the unfolding of this precious truth in our studies for time to come.

Remember, this study is about “light”  and “darkness” and we will see things unfold before us as we have an open heart that will guide us in our desire to know the truth and be set free.

Blessings on you and your families as we enter into the Fall time of the year and look forward to a greater “harvest time” in our families and churches.
